inter-turban-shell, 2126. 3D print, in the studio.

Cabinet of Inter-Curiosities gathers specimens from a future yet to come: shells and sea urchins whose bodies have grown into interconnected, flowing structures, part organism, part machine. Like the cabinets of curiosities of the past, it collects and classifies, but its specimens do not exist yet. Each one asks what kind of being might awaken within it, and what might grow, evolve and become entangled with its form.

In inter-giant-clam, colossal clams have evolved a flowing armour of interconnected, wavy spines, constantly adapting, sensing and strengthening themselves as biology and technology merge into one. Each specimen is dated a century ahead, as if catalogued in the future.

The specimens begin as digital models and are slowly becoming physical: inter-turban-shell, inter-giant-clam and trinity-murex-inverted have now been 3D printed, and the rest of the cabinet will follow. Murex, a kinetic specimen from the series, will be part of Lost & Fauna in 2027.
